One of my (many) long-term projects is the
refurbishment/restoration a 1987 Denford Starturn 4 CNC lathe which I bought in
2002.
Mechanically it seems basically sound although there has been
some rusting here and there on the steel parts.
When I got it the first thing I had to do was a basic tidy up
and removed the swarf left from its last use perhaps ten years previously (it
had been part of a school's workshop).
Unfortunately the internal microcontroller PCB electronics have
failed and the lathe no longer talks to a PC (via a serial cable), so I am
having to put in a PC parallel port breakout board to run directly from a PC.
This is probably the better option anyway.
Here are some pictures and I will put up further information as
and when.
